Olivia: Presne. Dlhodobý izraelsko-palestínsky konflikt neustále spôsobuje napätie a boje v celom regióne, ako sme videli aj medzi Izraelom a Libanonom.
Dan: A prečo sa to všetko deje? Aké sú hlavné dôvody týchto vojen?
Olivia: Dôvody sú rôzne. Niekedy ide o kontrolu nad krajinou, inokedy je spor založený na náboženstve.
Dan: A to vedie aj k terorizmu, však?
Olivia: Bohužiaľ áno. Videli sme nárast teroristických činov spáchaných ľuďmi, ktorí veria, že bránia svoje náboženstvo.
Dan: Ako útoky v USA v septembri 2001 alebo v Británii v júli 2005...
Olivia: Presne. Ale terorizmom trpeli aj ľudia v Indonézii, Španielsku či Izraeli. Je to globálny problém s komplexnými príčinami, na ktoré sa pozrieme ďalej.
Dan: So that really puts our daily problems into perspective. But Olivia, a lot of these big global issues, like poverty and hunger, seem to be getting worse because of another massive problem... the environment.
Olivia: Exactly, Dan. They're all interconnected. And a huge driver of that is climate change. It's not some far-off future problem. It's happening right now.
Dan: I hear the term 'global warming' all the time. What does it actually mean for us on the ground?
Olivia: Well, think of it this way. The United Nations said 2006 was the sixth warmest year on record... and the records keep getting broken. That extra heat in the system supercharges our weather.

Dan: Which has to go somewhere. Where does all this global garbage end up?

Olivia: Exactly. And here’s the surprising part... huge internet companies like Google and Wikipedia actually protested against SOPA.
Dan: Why? You'd think they’d want to stop piracy.
Olivia: They do, but they feared the law was so broad it could be used to limit free speech online. A classic case of the cure being worse than the disease.
Dan: Then you have groups like Anonymous, who are on a whole other level.
Olivia: Oh, absolutely. They believe information should be freely shared. They famously hacked government websites to protest SOPA and the Megaupload shutdown.
