Sara: Väčšina ľudí si myslí, že učenie sa slovíčok je len o bifľovaní dlhých zoznamov. Ale v skutočnosti je to o spájaní slov s tým, čo už aj tak robíte každý deň.

Ben: Presne tak, Sara. A dnes si ukážeme, ako na to s témou, ktorá je vám všetkým blízka: škola a technológie. Viete, koľko anglických IT slovíčok použijete bez toho, aby ste si to uvedomili?

Sara: To som zvedavá! Toto je Studyfi Podcast.

Ben: Začnime školskými predmetmi. Máme tu klasiku ako **maths** – matematika, a **English** – angličtina. Potom kreatívne predmety ako **art**, teda výtvarná výchova.

Sara: A čo tie skratky? Často vidím **P.E.** alebo **I.C.T.**

Ben: Skvelá otázka! **P.E.** je **physical education**, čiže telesná výchova. A **I.C.T.** znamená **Information and Communication Technology** – po našom jednoducho informatika.

Sara: Jasné! A potom je tu **history** a **geography**. Tieto sú celkom jednoduché. A čo taký predmet **design and technology**?

Ben: To sú v podstate technické práce alebo dielne. Spája to kreativitu s praktickými zručnosťami.

Sara: Super. A to nás plynule privádza k IT slovíčkam, ktoré používame nonstop. Napríklad pri zakladaní nového účtu v nejakej appke.

Ben: Presne. Vytvoríš si **account** (účet), zvolíš **username** (používateľské meno) a samozrejme, heslo – **password**. Len si tam prosím nedávajte „heslo123“.

Sara: To by bol asi najrýchlejší spôsob, ako si nechať „prelomiť kód“ – **break a code**. A čo bežné úkony? Každý deň niečo kopírujem a vkladám.

Ben: Klasika! **Copy** a **paste**. A keď sa pomýliš, jednoducho to zmažeš – **delete**. Všetko si ukladáš ako **file**, teda súbor, a tie patria do **folder**, čiže priečinka.

Sara: A keď si chcem nainštalovať novú aplikáciu, teda **app**?

Ben: Na to použiješ sloveso **install**. A keď ju chceš aktualizovať, tak **update**. A ak niečo nahrávaš na internet, je to **upload**.

Sara: Znie to tak jednoducho, keď to takto rozoberieme. Takže, kľúčom je všímať si, čo vlastne robíme na počítači či mobile. A keď už sme pri technológiách...

Sara: Okay, that was a fantastic point. For our last topic, let's switch gears to some useful vocabulary on personal interactions and crime.

Ben: Perfect. Let's start with 'ambition'. An ambitious person has a strong desire to succeed. Their goals might even cause them to 'appeal to somebody' for help or support.

Sara: So my ambition to ace my exam might lead me to appeal to you for more study tips?

Ben: Exactly! You're already using the words perfectly. It's all about having a goal and seeking help.

Sara: Alright, let's get a little more serious with the crime vocabulary. What about the phrase 'arrest somebody'?

Ben: This one's straightforward. If someone commits a crime, the police will 'arrest somebody'. But first, they'll definitely 'ask somebody' a lot of questions to gather facts.

Sara: Got it. So they ask questions first, then make the arrest. It's a clear sequence of events.

Ben: Precisely. And a successful arrest is something you could 'call' a win for justice. That’s a reason to be 'cheerful', right?

Sara: I see what you did there! Finding a reason to be cheerful is always good. Well, that's all the time we have.
