Basic verbs and actions
verify: to prove that something exists or is true, or to make certain that something is correct — overiť si niečo, overiť
Example: Verify the details before you submit the form.
wage: a particular amount of money that is paid, usually every week, to an employee — mzda
Example: The weekly wage depends on experience.
wave: to raise your hand and move it from side to side as a way of greeting someone or adding emphasis — mávať
Example: She waved to the taxi driver.
ensure: to make something certain to happen — zaistiť, zaručiť
Example: Ensure all documents are signed.
employ: to use something or to hire someone — zamestnať, použiť
Example: Employ this method to reduce errors.
Well-being and personal qualities
well-being: the state of feeling comfortable, healthy and happy — pocit zdravia, duševná pohoda, blahobyt
well-kept secret: information that very few people know — dobre strážené tajomstvo
well-versed in sth: knowing a lot about something — vyznajúci sa, oboznámený
empathy: the ability to share someone else’s feelings — empatia, pochopenie
empower: to give someone authority or the freedom to do something — oprávniť, splnomocniť
Example: Empower team members and foster autonomy.
Conflict, feedback and relationships
blame: to say or think that someone is responsible for something bad — viniť, obviňovať
bury the hatchet: to stop an argument and become friends again — zakopať vojnovú sekeru
clear the air: to remove bad feelings between people — vyjasniť nedorozumenie
finger-pointing: blaming someone for something that goes wrong — ukazovať na niekoho prstom
get on with sb: to have a friendly relationship with someone — vychádzať si s niekým
Example: After the meeting they tried to clear the air and get on with their work.
Workplace actions and processes (general verbs)
establish: to start a company or organization that will continue for a long time — založiť, zriadiť
implement: to start using a plan or system — uskutočniť, zaviesť
maintain: to continue to have; keep in existence — udržiavať, zachovávať
initiate: 1. to cause something to begin; 2. to teach or allow someone into a group — spustiť; zasvätiť
escalate: to make something more serious or involve someone higher in rank — vystupňovať sa, postúpiť
