Grace: To je obrovská rozloha. Ako vyzerajú jej hranice?

Oliver: Je to celkom priamočiare. Na juhu má najdlhšiu nebránenú hranicu na svete s USA. Na severe jej územie zasahuje až k Severnému ľadovému oceánu.

Grace: A čo oceány? Tie musia mať obrovský vplyv.

Oliver: Určite. Na východe ju obmýva chladný Atlantický oceán a na západe zase Tichý oceán. To všetko formuje jej charakter.

Grace: S takou obrovskou rozlohou od oceánu k oceánu musí byť aj podnebie poriadne rozmanité.

Oliver: Presne tak, aj keď celkovo je vnímané ako veľmi chladné. Má niekoľko klimatických zón. Na severe je extrémna zima, pretože počasie tam silno ovplyvňuje Arktída.

Grace: Takže na výlet do severných teritórií si treba zbaliť viac ako len jeden sveter.

Oliver: To rozhodne. Ale poďme sa teraz pozrieť na niečo ďalšie...

Grace: Alright, that was a great look at Australia. For our final topic today, let's head to the northern hemisphere... to Canada.

Oliver: A great choice. When most people think of Canada, they picture that iconic flag with the maple leaf. It has two red stripes and a white center.

Grace: And it’s not just the flag that has two sides. Canada is officially bilingual, right?

Oliver: Exactly. English and French are both official languages. The country is huge, spanning ten provinces and three territories. It's a constitutional monarchy.

Grace: So the British monarch is the head of state?

Oliver: That’s right. King Charles III is the official head, represented by a governor general, Mary Simon. But the Canadian Parliament holds the real power.

Grace: And what about the landscape? I hear it's stunning.

Oliver: It is. You have the Rocky Mountains with Mount Logan as the highest peak. And of course, the national animal is the beaver. They’re known for being busy for a reason!

Grace: I bet. That feels very connected to their national sport, ice hockey. It’s a big deal there.

Oliver: The biggest. It’s their national winter sport. The NHL is full of Canadian stars like Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid. But did you know their national summer sport is lacrosse?

Grace: I didn't! And so many famous people, from author Margaret Atwood to tech giant Elon Musk.

Oliver: It’s a country of surprising contrasts. From the natural beauty of Niagara Falls and Banff National Park to bustling cities like Toronto.

Grace: What a fantastic overview. So, a massive, bilingual country with a unique political system, a passion for hockey, and some world-famous citizens. Thanks so much, Oliver.
